GI Solutions

Our commitment to the guiding principles of innovation, creativity, and integrity makes our services passionate and effective. We understand that developing an innovative solution to a problem requires an in depth understanding of the clients business model, the specific application area, as well as imagination and insight as to how the myriad of available tool sets and methods could potentially be composed to address the requirement. Innovation requires that the real needs are truly understood, and it may require courage to propose something beyond existing preconceptions.

We are familiar with a wide range of IT infrastructure technologies and usage patterns, as well as the Application Programming Interfaces and tools offered by the major GIS platforms.

We have broad-based experience and expertise in bespoke development, customisation, and integration, and also in leveraging on enterprise application suites including but not limited to SAP, Oracle, Microsoft, and IBM to create the best-fit GIS interface in a seamless and cost effective manner.

Programme/Project Management

Organisations are facing increased pressure and grappling with greater challenges under the burden of delivering IT projects within constrained budgets. Introducing geospatial components into the fray can make the situation even more daunting as GIS comes with its own complexities. For example, the migration of spatial data from disparate sources and formats is hardly ever straightforward; data quality issues will invariably surface and yet can be prohibitively expensive to rectify. Also, pushing spatial data into well-established business systems and workflows in a manner that promotes synergy can be equally challenging.

On top of these issues, there are relatively few geospatial standards and their adoption is by no means either consistent or widespread across the industry. Successful GIS project management requires specialist knowledge and awareness of these contending issues in order to ascertain impacts and mitigate risks, and to be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders.

It is under such challenging circumstances that we can help our clients to alleviate the pain points.

We can draw from our real world experience gained over a wide range of private and public sector GIS project engagements of varying complexities, to guide geospatial projects from inception to deployment. We are also conversant with industry standard project management methodologies (such as PRINCE II) as well as the pitfalls and best practices to enable projects to be designed and managed predictably, efficiently and successfully.
